Mahan Esfahani returns, with delightful accounts of some of Bach's smaller-scale keyboard works. Alternating between the clavichord (whose expressive yet introverted sound I'm a long-standing fan of) and the harpsichord, he shows that while these pieces may have been written largely as teaching aids, they retain great beauty in their own right. These are some of my favourite works by Bach and it's a delight to hear a really top-notch new recording of them.
