Harumi Rhodes (second violin) joined the Takács Quartet in 2018 and serves as Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Colorado Boulder. Originally from New Jersey, she was born into a family with Japanese, American and Ukrainian roots. Harumi combines her performing career with a commitment to guiding young instrumentalists, composers and ensembles. Her passion for building musical partnerships with composers of today has resulted in over 100 premieres. Harumi was a founding member of Trio Cavatina and an artist member of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and performed extensively with Music from Copland House, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Musicians from Marlboro. Away from the quartet, Harumi enjoys her work as Artistic Director of the Denver/Boulder branch of If Music Be The Food …, a concert series designed to build partnerships through music in order to raise awareness of food insecurity in local communities.
