Stephanie Wake-Edwards (mezzo-soprano)

Stephanie Wake-Edwards is a London-born mezzo-soprano. Following initial studies in Sociology and Social Psychology, she gained a Master’s Degree in Vocal Studies at the Royal Academy of Music, where she is also an Associate. Stephanie first came to international attention in 2018 when conductor Marc Minkowski awarded her a special recital in his Concours Bordeaux Médoc Lyrique; the following year she joined the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Opera highlights have included Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires; Ino in a production of Handel’s Semele for Glyndebourne Festival; and Hermia in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Garsington Opera. In 2024 Stephanie joined the Ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin where her roles include Marchesa Melibea in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Mary in Der fliegende Holländer, Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, and Cornelia in Giulio Cesare.

On the concert stage, recent highlights have included Vivaldi’s Stabat mater with Fabio Biondi, Handel’s Messiah with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Gustavo Gimeno, and Mahler’s Symphony No 2 with Semyon Bychkov in London.
