Andrew Nicholson studied at Chetham's School of Music and, from 1989, at the Royal Northern College of Music. He was appointed Principal Flute with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1993. He has appeared as Guest Principal with orchestras throughout Britain. Andrew was appointed Principal Flute of the Hallé in 1999.
