Antonio Palella (1692–1761) belongs to the generation of composers immediately preceding that of Perez and Pergolesi: a contemporary of Johann Adolf Hasse, he often took on the task of adapting the latter’s opere serie for the Neapolitan stage. Palella never moved away from Naples, but succeeded in exercising his profession in surroundings of considerable prestige (he was second harpsichordist at the Teatro San Carlo, for example) while acting as private music master to the offspring of a number of high-ranking aristocratic families and composing comic operas.

Antonio Palella (1692–1761) appartient à la génération qui précéda immédiatement celle de Perez et de Pergolèse; il se chargea souvent d’adapter pour la scène napolitaine les opere serie de son contemporain Johann Adolf Hasse et, sans jamais s’éloigner de Naples, il parvint à exercer son art dans un cadre des plus prestigieux (il fut, par exemple, second claveciniste au Teatro San Carlo), tout en composant des opéras comiques et en officiant comme maître de musique privé pour la progéniture de plusieurs grandes familles aristocratiques.

Antonio Palella (1692–1761) gehörte der Komponistengeneration an, die direkt vor Perez und Pergolesi wirkte: als Zeitgenosse von Johann Adolf Hasse bearbeitete er häufig die opere serie des Letzteren für die neapolitanische Bühne. Palella zog nie aus Neapel weg, doch gelang es ihm, seinen Beruf in einem prestigereichen Umfeld auszuüben (so war er zum Beispiel zweiter Cembalist am Teatro San Carlo) und gleichzeitig als privater Musiklehrer von Sprösslingen mehrerer hochrangiger aristokratischer Familien sowie als Komponist komischer Opern zu wirken.
