After graduating from Cambridge University with a prize-winning double-starred first in music, composer–teacher–conductor–gardener–baroque oboist Kim Ashton was awarded his PhD in composition from King’s College London in 2014. His music has been performed at numerous festivals in Britain and Europe, and is recorded on Lorelt and Nonclassical labels. Recent work includes pieces for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Orchestra of Opera North, and Ensemble InterContemporain. He also has a keen interest in opera: his music-theatre piece Tonseisha was performed at the 2014 Tete a Tete Opera Festival with Arts Council funding.
