Reviews

‘In all these miniatures—some arrangements, some written for the instrument—there are folkloristic echoes amplified by compelling rhythmic variations, extended harmonies and songlike melodies … what makes Denoth’s offering a must-have is a musical sensitivity exemplified as much by his curation as by his playing’ (Gramophone)

‘Denoth brings lyricism and fire to his performances of this master of the tango … Piazzolla once stated 'For me, tango was always for the ear rather than the feet.' This excellent album is firm confirmation of the power of this arresting form’ (BBC Music Magazine)
PERFORMANCE
RECORDING
Chiquilín de Bachín ('Bachín Lad') refers to the Bachín, a restaurant in Buenos Aires frequented by Piazzolla and his friends. From this inspiration came a song:

Por los noches, cara sucia,
de angelito con bluyín,
vende rosas en la mesas
del boliche de Bachín.
At night, with dirty face,
A little angel in blue jeans
Sells roses at the tables
In the Bachín bar.
