Derwentwater, located in the northern part of Cumbria, is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains, with the town of Keswick at its northern point. On a dark night, away from the town, this can be a very moody setting, and my miniature tone poem explores this image in music which is essentially melodic but also sparse and fragile in character.
