Erika Grimaldi is one of the most sought-after young sopranos in Europe today, having delivered critically acclaimed performances in nearly a dozen roles at the prestigious Teatro Regio di Torino. She is equally at home at such major opera houses as Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich), Teatro di San Carlo (Naples), and Opéra National de Montpellier. Born in Asti, Italy, Erika Grimaldi graduated with distinction from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Turin. Her first of many successes came at the Crescentino International Competition in Vercelli and the International Giacomo Lauri-Volpi Competition in Spain. After winning First Prize at the Comunità Europea competition in 2008, she was immediately offered the role of Mimi in La bohème at the Teatro Regio in Turin. Her first performance at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma was in 2010, playing the role of Anaï in Rossini’s Moïse et Pharaon conducted by Riccardo Muti. Her previous roles include, among others, Desdemona (Otello) and the Countess (The Marriage of Figaro) at Teatro Regio, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at Ópera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and Donna Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia) for her debut at Staatsoper Hamburg. She joined Jonas Kaufmann in a scene from Il Trovatore on the tenor’s all-Verdi album.

Erika Grimaldi wurde in Asti, Italien geboren und schloss ihr Studium mit Auszeichnung am Conservatorio „Giuseppe Verdi“ in Turin ab. Belli“ organisierten Concorso di Comunità Europea 2008 bot man ihr sofort die Rolle der Mimi in La Bohème am Teatro Regio in Turin an. Ihr erster Auftritt am Teatro dell’Opera di Roma erfolgte 2010, wo sie die Rolle der Anaï in Rossinis Moïse et Pharaon [Moses und Pharao] unter der Leitung von Riccardo Muti spielte. Zu ihren bisherigen Rollen gehörten unter anderem die Desdemona (Otello [Othello]) und Gräfin (Le nozze di Figaro [Figaros Hochzeit]) am Teatro Regio, die Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) an der Ópera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City und die Donna Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia [Der Türke in Italien]) für ihr Debüt an der Staatsoper Hamburg. Vor kurzem sang sie zusammen mit Jonas Kaufmann in einer Szene aus Il trovatore [Der Troubadour] auf einem Album des Tenors mit einem ausschließlich Verdi gewidmeten Repertoire.
