Stefan Dohr studied in Essen and Cologne, starting his professional career at the age of nineteen as Principal Horn of the Oper Frankfurt, during which time he also frequently appeared as a guest artist with Ensemble Modern. He held the position of Principal Horn at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Bayreuth and Lucerne Festival orchestras before taking up his current post in 1993.
