Clemens Leske (piano)

With a repertoire of 35 concerti, Clemens Leske has performed with the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, West Australian, Tasmanian and Queensland symphony orchestras and has played at venues in Spain, the United Kingdom, Singapore, New Zealand, Hungary and China. He has appeared regularly with the Australian String Quartet, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Moscow Virtuosi. For his London Royal Festival Hall debut he performed Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent appearances include performances of Strauss’ Burlesque as well as Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Sydney Symphony under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy, Mozart’s K467 Concerto in C at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, both with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra (Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto) with conductor Nicholas Milton and was invited on a national tour in partnership with flautist Sir James Galway.

Clemens has released many discs of solo and chamber works, and has recorded extensively for ABC Classic FM and Fine Music 102.5FM. He has recorded four CDs of solo piano works ranging from Chopin and Schumann to Ligeti and Duckworth. He has served on juries for national and international piano competitions including the ABC’s Young Performers’ Awards, the Lev Vlassenko, and the Shepparton National Piano Award, and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Formerly a Juilliard School graduate, he has recently been invited to mentor students from the piano faculty there. Vladimir Ashkenazy states: ‘Mr Clemens Leske is in my opinion an extraordinary musician and pianist.’
